Sun Life remains most trusted life insurance brand in the Philippines: survey

Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc. (“Sun Life”) remains to be the Filipinos’ most trusted life insurance brand, according to the latest Campaign Asia survey of the Top 100 Brands in the Philippines.

Conducted between February 21 and March 19, 2020 by global information and insights provider Nielsen, the survey asked participants to name the best brand that comes to mind, where “best” means the one they trust the most or has the best reputation in its category.

Sun Life was the only life insurance company to land in the list, ranking 65th among various brand categories including alcohol; apparel & accessories; automotive; beverage; consumer electronics; courier services; financial services; food; home appliances; household & personal care; media & telecommunications; restaurants; retail; sports; and transport, travel, & leisure.

“For us at Sun Life, there is no greater reward than the trust of our clients who have chosen us to be their lifetime partner in securing their future,” Sun Life Philippines CEO & Country Head Benedict Sison said. “This further inspires us to fulfill our purpose of helping Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.”

The recognition follows the Insurance Commission’s earlier announcement that Sun Life remains to be the No. 1 life insurance company in the Philippines, after topping the industry in terms of premium income, new business annual premium equivalent (NBAPE), and net income for 2019.

Committed service amid the pandemic

Today, despite the various challenges presented by the pandemic, Sun Life remains well-positioned to continue serving its clients, owing to consistent efforts to boost sustainability. Having a robust and established business continuity plan allowed it to focus on strengthening digital solutions, such as the digitally-enabled selling process and remote online medical examination.

Moreover, Sun Life also strengthened its balance sheets across the globe. This increased the company’s resilience, where its business is actually even much stronger than it was in December 2019.

“Sun Life and the Filipinos have always stood as one in the pursuit of a brighter future,” Sison said. “We have surpassed many challenges in our 125 years in the Philippines, and now, as the country strives to rise above the pandemic, we remain evermore their lifetime partner.”
