Philippines Capital Markets Conference

The Pinnacle Group International being the leader in global conferences will be holding its inaugural  Philippines Capital Markets Conference, which will be held at the Pan Pacific Hotel Manila from the 10-11 March 2009.

2009 promises to be an exciting year as Philippines has recently revised its regulations on the capital markets and is all set for further developing the pension and capital markets. “The year 2008 was tumultuous for the world due to the global economic recession that, thankfully, has not become a crisis in the Philippines,” said Philippine President Gloria Arroyo in a written New Year’s message to the nation.
The Philippines has actually fared pretty well as compared with other emerging markets in Asia. In recent news, officials have reported the oversubscribing of Manila’s sovereign bond issue by four times.

Having raised US$1.5 billion from the sale of 10-year global bonds to foreign investors, the first in Asia since last June. Philippines’ stable monetary and exchange rate environment has proved conducive to investor sentiment towards the country’s return to international capital markets

According to Fitch Sovereign Group, the Philippines is going to outperform some other sovereigns rated in the ‘BB’ category. Both Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor have also gave Manila’s global bond an upbeat assessment.

As credit markets begins to show signs of thawing, Philippines provides a glimmer of hope to investors.
